Trigger points are hyper-irritated spots in the fascia surrounding the muscle, most commonly described as “knots.” Trigger Point Therapy is specifically formulated to alleviate the source of the pain through cycles of isolated pressure and release of both known and unknown spots of injury or tension. Unexplained pain frequently radiates from these points of localized tenderness to broader areas, sometimes distant from the trigger point itself, often creating confusion regarding the source of the pain. Our therapists are trained to identify triggers and their associated “twitch response,” to then address individually for release of all affected musculature.
Much like Deep Tissue Massage, the Trigger Point Therapy session itself can be an intense physical experience. Breathing techniques are often employed in order to further support trigger and tension release, and post-care is carefully outlined and prescribed. Hydration is particularly important as toxins are quickly released through the trigger breakdown process. Your therapist may also suggest Epsom Salt baths in order to further encourage additional toxin removal and tension release.
